  2. Non-small cell lung cancer

Lung Cancer Stages

The types of staging depend upon the types of tumors and their methods of growing and spreading. There are different symptoms of lung cancer such as fatigue and cough. Therefore, these symptoms thought as other diseases. On the other hand, tumors of the first and second are not a diagnosis.

  1. Small cell lung cancer

It is a type of cancer, which spreads fast. The chances of this cancer are about 20%. It is most likely to cure with chemotherapy. It is due to this reason that this type is more responsive than another type of cancer.

  1. Non-small cell lung cancer

The chances of this type of cancer are about to 80%. This includes the following types of non-small cell lung cancer:

  • Adenocarcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Large cell carcinoma

Stages of types of lung cancer

  1. Stages of small cell lung cancer

Small cell lung cancer starts from the bronchi in the chest. It spreads in a fast manner. It also grows rapidly. It can spread to lymph nodes of your body. Less than 20 percent of cases are the cases of this type of cancer. In the UK the chances of this type of cancer are up to 15%.

There are the following stages of small cell lung cancer:

  • Limited stages
  • Extensive stage

  • Limited stages

This is a limited type of lung cancer. It occurs mostly in one lung. It can spread to nearby lymph nodes.

  • Extensive stage

This stage spreads vigorously. In this stage, cancer spreads to another lung. In the extensive stage of lung cancer, the lung can spread to the pleura and other parts of the body.

  1. Stages of the non-small cell lung cancer

The stages of this type of cancer can describe as:

  • Occult stage
  • Stage 0
  • Stage I
  • Stage II
  • Stage III
  • Stage IV

  • Occult stage

Cancer Kills You

In this stage cancer just starts. It does not a diagnosis by imaging tests. The reason is that the size of the tumor is very small.

  • Stage 0

In this stage, the size of the tumor is small and it does not spread to other parts of the lung and body.

  • Stage I

In this stage cells of the cancer present under the tissues of the lung. These cancerous cells do not affect near lymph nodes.

  • Stage II

In this stage cells of cancer spread to lymph nodes and chest wall.

  • Stage III

In this stage, cancer starts to spread to other parts of the body. In this stage, not only lymph nodes affected but also esophagus, heart, and trachea are also affected.

It has also two stages:

IIIA:

In this stage cancer cells only spread to the affected lung and nearby lymph nodes.

IIIB:

This type is more harmful than IIIA. This stage is spread to the opposite side lymph nodes of the chest. It can spread to above the collarbone.

  • Stage IV

It is a dangerous stage of the non-small cell lung cancer. In this stage, non-small cell lung cancer spreads to the most parts of the body and it may affect brain, bones, and liver.
