Types of cancer

Definition

Cancer is a disease characterized by rapidly dividing abnormal cells that lead to clusters of cells in the form of tumor and can spread to other organs. Geneshave information encoded in the form of DNA that control cell division. Normal cell divides through a process known as mitosis. When cell content reach to a limit, genes send signal to those cells and stop cell division. However, due to some reason cell may lose control over their division and start to proliferate abnormally. They become immortal and continue to divide. When normal cell damages, it is removed through apoptosis. Immune system has a type of cell known as natural killer cell that identifies cancerous cells as abnormal cells. T lymphocytes can attack tumor cells and destroy them. These are major line of protection against tumor. Cancer is the major of death in USA.
